Xian Airport Shuttle BusWhen you get out of the airport, go straight out the doors and you will see the transit buses in front of you. Its only costs you RMB 25 for the shuttle bus ride. It takes about one hour from the airport to the downtown Xian. There are 4 shuttle bus lines in operation. The most used and welcomed bus line is the Line 1 operating between Xian airport and Melody Hotel ( Bell Tower).
Xian Airport Taxi
If you have much luggage and your hotel in Xian is not close to the downtown shuttle bus stop, you are kindly suggested to take a taxi since it will save you more time for a comfortable transfer. But before you enjoy your ride, you have to bargain with the taxi driver for a reasonable fare, which costs about RMB 100-RMB 120. Below are some useful tips for taking a taxi at Xian Xianyang International Airport:
1. Just walk out of the arrival hall and follow the taxi sign to the taxi parking lot, about 100 meters in the front.
2. Most of the drivers are not willing to use the meter. So you have to bargain a reasonable price with them ( between RMB 100 and 120)
3. Carpooling are welcomed both by passengers and drivers, a win-win way of taking the taxi. The fare is around RMB 60 per person.
Xi'an Railway Station
Xi'an Railway Station is one of the 10 top train stations in China, the most important hub connecting the Northwest and Southwest China. There are many daily trains in Xian linking Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Xining, Urumqi, Lhasa and more. Traveling Xian by train is much sought after by many tourists in a safe and money saving way.
Xi'an Railway Station is located just to the north of the northeast corner of Xian City Wall. The main road "Jiefang Road" ends at Xian Train Station - its north tip and connects southward the Dong Dajie.

Xi'an Train Booking
1. Ticket Booking
The tickets go on sale 10 days in advance of the departure. So you are requested to reserve your tickets at least 12 days in advance. Your reservation will be made only after TBTS have received your full prepayment 12 days in advance. If your prepayment has not been made within 12 days, your reservation will be automatically cancelled.
2. Ticket Confirmation
No binding contract between you and TBTS will come into effect until TBTS send you a formal confirmation either by email or fax confirming you that they have got the tickets you have asked for on the 10th day before your sought-after train departure date.
Xi'an Bus
The city public buses run within the city proper of Xian. Most of them are the buses equipped with Automated Fare Collection System. Passengers are requested to drop RMB 1 into the box near the bus gate. So you'd better to prepare some coins or small notes before you are on the bus. The drivers are not responsible for the money change. If you are board an air-conditioned bus, you are supposed to drop RMB 2. For some mini-buses, you pay directly to the bus conductors according to the distance of your destination. The tickets usually vary from RMB 1 to RMB 5. The double deck bus No.603 and 610 are often used by travelers running from the Bus Stop by the Xian Long-distance Bus Station (just across Xian Train Station) to the downtown - Bell Tower.Xi'an taxi

Xian Bike Rental
The city of Xian within the city wall is walkable. So hiring a bike to tour the city is a very good way of visiting Xian. Many hotels in Xian offer
free bike rental or they charge you for a very cheap rate. Xian is a biking friendly city. The road signs are easy to recognize. Most of the roads are flat and safe.
Xian Metro
Currently Xi'an metro or Xian subway is still under construction. 6 subway lines are planned to be built and finished around 2020, totally spanning 251.8 km. The first phase of Metro Line 2 has been completed and put into service.

Route: Xianyang Forest Park - Lishan ( 18 stops )
Start: October, 2008
Finish: 2013
Subway Line 1 passes through the city center of Xian from east (Fangzhicheng Stop) to west (Houweizhai Stop). When completed in the year 2013, you can take subway to visit Banpo Village and Terra Cotta Army.
Metro Line 2
Route: Xian North Railway Station - Exhibition Center ( 17 stops )

Second Phase: Sept,2009 and finish 2013
Subway Line 2 passes through the city center ( Bell Tower ) of Xian from North (Xian North Railway Station Stop) to South (Weiqunan Stop). When completed in the year 2011 and 2013, you can take subway to get to Xian North Railway Station in the north and Xian Exhibition Center in the south.
