Location: Zhangzhou borders the cities of Xiamen and Quanzhou to the northeast, Longyan City to the northwest and the province of Guangdong to the southwest.
History: In the early 20th century, Zhangzhou-fu was surrounded by 42 miles (68 km) of wall (in circumference). Its streets were paved with granite, but struck some Western visitors as dirty, as reported in the Encyclopædia Britannica. The Jiulong River was crossed by an 800-foot bridge of wooden planks supported on twenty-five stone piers. At this time, heavy silk trading activity occurred in the city, while brick kilns and sugar-manufactures were among its primary industrial activities. In 1911, its population was estimated around 1,000,000.
Transportation: By Air, By Train, By Road and By Sea
By air:-Zhangzhou has no airport because it is o¬nly 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. After arriving Xiamen, visitors can change to the buses and trains to Zhangzhou.It is convenient to get to Zhangzhou from Xiamen by bus. From Xiamen South Hubin Bus Station, buses to Zhangzhou leave every 20 minutes.
By train:-Zhangzhou Train station is located in the north end of Yuanguangnan Road of the city and the ticket office is located in the east side of the building.
By road-There are four long-distance bus passenger stations in Zhangzhou: Zhangzhou passenger station ,South station, West station, North station.
By sea -Zhagnzhou port is composed of 6 ports at Shima, Houshi, Gulei, Dongshan and Zhao-an. Among them, Zhaoyin port is listed as the pilot project for accommodating ships sailing directly to Taiwan. The port in Zhangzhou has 53 berths, of which 6 berths are over 10,000 tons.

Weather: Zhangzhou has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa), with mild to warm winters and long, very hot and humid summers. The monthly daily average temperature ranges from 13.2 °C (55.8 °F) in January to 28.8 °C (83.8 °F) in July, and the annual frost-free period lasts 330 days.
Attraction: Tianluokeng Hakka Tulou Cluster,
Tianluokeng Hakka Tulou Cluster- Tianluokeng Hakka Tulou Cluster is located at Shangban Village, Shuyang Town of Nanjing County, Zhangzhou City. It is primarily made up of one square building, three round buildings and one oval building.
They are Buyunlou, Zhenchanglou, Ruiyunlou, Hechanglou and Wenchanglou. The square Buyunlou is in the center, surrounded by other four buildings. Seen from the top, they look like dishes on a table, so it is also called jokingly "four dishes and one soup"
Tianfu Tea Museum- As a national AAAA scenic spot and national agriculture demonstration site, Tianfu Tea Museum consists of the Main Exhibition Hall, Classroom for Tea Ceremony, Japanese Tea Ceremony Hall and Painting and Calligraphy House. Top Eight scenic spots are Generation to Generation, Stone carving of Tea Customs, Tea Garden of the Warriors, Orchid Pavilion on the circled water, Tangshan Waterfall, Lush forest and Tall Bamboos, Inverted Image on Clear Lake, Teapot Granted by Heavenly Palace. It was opened to the public on the seventh of January, 2002.
Lingtong Rock Scenic Area- The famous Lingtong Temple is built in a natural stone cave where there are huge rocks on the top and steep precipices and cliffs below, with only one path "Ladder to Heaven" to climb up. A waterfall about 100 meters high is in front of the cave. Trickling water splashed on the rock and the drops look like pearl and jade. In addition, when it rains, the water flows as if a bead curtain is hanging on the hill.
