History: Shaoshan has a long history of 4,000 years. Mao Zedong, the first president of new China was born here on December 26, 1893. It has been listed into the National Scenic and Historic Interest Area since 1994 and one of China’s first authorized “Excellent Tourism Cities”.
Climate: Shaoshan has the humid subtropical monsoon climate with distinctive seasons. The annual average temperature is 16.7℃. The coldest month is January with the average temperature 4.4℃. The hottest month is July with the average temperature 28.9℃. Shaoshan has an annual average precipitation of 1,358 mm with 1719.9 mm as the highest record.
Transportation: Train-Shaoshan railway station is located in Qingxi Town in the Shaoshan urban, nabouring the bus station. Bus leaves for Changsha two times per day. From the Shaoshan railway station ,you can reach Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Changsha, Hubei, Ming,Zhe,SU and so o¬n.
Highway-The highway of Shaoshan extends to all directions such as Xiangtan, Chngsha, Zhangjiajie, etc.
Taxi-Because the city is small, the fare of taxi is generaly 5 yuan,and if you want to visit the former residence of former chairman Maozedong from the urban , the fare is about 10 Yuan.
Specialties: Shaoshan has duck of souvenirs to relate to Chairman Mao, such as half-length photo, big heard portrait, wind coat photo, etc.
