Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei Province and the largest city in the central China. It is composed of the three formerly independent towns (Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang), which are cut apart by the Yangtze River and Hanjiang River. The 1911 Xinhai Revolution first broke out in the city of Wuhan, which sparkled the beginning of the end for the Qing Dynasty.

When to Visit
Wuhan is within the subtropical monsoon climate zone featuring plenty of rainfall and sunshine. The summer in Wuhan is bitterly hot and humid, dubbed as "furnace", especially in the two months of July and August. The winter in Wuhan is very cold. The most of the railfall falls from April to July. The most comfortable months for travelere are spring and autumn.

Overland Travel to Wuhan
It is very convenient to travel to Wuhan by highway. Several pivotal expressways intersect at Wuhan including Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway, Shanghai-Chengdu Highway and Wuhan Outer Ring Road which connects to the major highways of the country.

Travel to Wuhan by Flight

Travel to Wuhan by Boat
You can also get to Wuhan vis boats on the Yangtze River, either from downstream destinations such as Shanghai and Nanjing or from the upstream destination of Chongqing, on the famous Three Gorges cruise route.

Metro
Wuhan plans to build 9 subway lines and 3 city light rails before the year 2040. Now Subway Line 1 ( or light rail No.1) and Subway Line 2 are put into use.
Light Rail Line 1 is 28870 meters long, an elevated rail (and therefore called "light rail" ). The Light Rail Line starts from Dijiao In Jiangan District to Dongwu Street in Dongxihu District, passing by 26 stops including Tiandi Plaza, Walking Street of Jianghan, Wuhan Plaza and Wuhan International Convetion。 Service time: 6:00 - 22:00 (every 6 minutes).
The subway line 2 is the first line in China that passes under the Yangtze River (a 3100m long tunnel), connecting Hankou District and Wuchang District, totalling 27.985km with 21 stations.

Ferry

Where and What to Eat in Wuhan
Wuhan Food belongs to Hubei Cuisine, one of China's top 10 cuisines with many representative dishes.
