Chengde Puren Temple
Puren Temple is the earliest one of the Eight Outer Temples, built up in 1317 (the 52nd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi). It was Kangxi’s sixty birthday that year, nobles and Kings from Mongolia came to celebrate his birthday and they wanted to commemorate it in the way of erecting temple, so the Puren Temple was given the birth at the foot of a hill and beside a stream, which incarnates the policy of Qing Dynasty to mastering Mongolia indirectly.
Taking the style of Han Nationality style, the temple covers an area of 32,500 square meters with a length of 250 meters from north to south and a width of 130 meters from east to west. Its main hall is called “Cipuyin” where Jiayie and Sakyamuni are seen and on both sides there are 5 room-side halls separately. All the pillars are colored drawing or pattern, displaying the royal riches and0 honor. Behind the palace is “Baixiang Changxin” Hall paying respect to “Wuliangshou Buddha”.
