Chengde Temple of Putuo Zongcheng
Located in the north of Chengde Summer Resort, the temple was set up in 36 year of Emperor Qianlong (1771). It was built by Emperor Qiaolong for celebrating his mother’s birthday. It means “Potala Palace” in Tibet language as its thoroughly Zang-style. Since it was modeled after the Potala Palace, the temple represents a fusion of Chinese and Tibetan architectural styles. The temple complex covers a surface area of some 220,000 square meters, making it one of the largest in China. Many of its halls and pavilions are adorned with copper and gold tiles roofs, adding to the splendor of the site.
The main architecture, Grand Red Platform is 25 meters high, with a 17 meters high white stone as the groundwork. Wan Fa Gui Hall is in the middle of the platform, coveted by steel tile shaped of golden scale. The ridge ranged all kinds of beasts gorgeously. Once whenever Emperor Qianlong patrolled here, it his must to worship Buddha here.
Temple if Putup Zongheng is one of the Eight Outer Temple in Chengde, and a must for tourist.
