Punin Temple, Chengde
Situated in the bank of Wulie River, north of Summer Resort, Puning temple is the most well-preserved temple complex of the eight out temples. It was set up in Qing Dynasty. The government hoped that the people lived in border land had a peaceful life forever, so they named the temple “Puning Temple”Puning temple is a combination of Han Nationality and Tibet. In the south are mainly for the Han Nationality’s architecture. Along the axes lists Mt, Gate, Tianwang Palace, Mahavira Hall, etc. The drum and bell tower are arranged on the both two sides.
The architecture in Tibet style are mostly in the north. With Dachen Pavilion as the center, its around is arranged by immense amount of Tibet architecture including Red Platform, White Platform, and four white Lama Tower. A lifelike Kwan-yin with thousands of hands and eyes stands in Dacheng Pavilion, 22.28 meters high and 15 meters waistline.
The joss is in shapely proportion, exquisite veins, as well as flowery color, which is not only the highest wooden statuary in the world, but also the masterpiece of sculpture in China.
In Qing Dynasty, 25th -27th in December and 8th -15th in January in every year, temple fair would be held here, Lama, principles flooded in an endless stream.
