Ningxia Tour
Home of the Hui people, Ningxia is the short form of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, one of the five minority autonomous regions in China. The other four minority regions are Tibetans in Tibet, the Zhuangs in Guangxi, the Uyghurs in Xinjiang, and the Mongols in Inner Mongolia. Hui people make up one third population in Ningxia. With the city of Yinchuan as its capital, Ningxia is located on the northwest Loess highland with the Yellow River flowing past the great amount of its land and the part of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall running along its northeastern frontier. Ningxia is surrounded by Shaanxi to the east, and Gansu and Inner Mongolia to the south and the north. It has an area of about 66,400 square kilometres.
One of Ningxia's main tourist spots is the famous Western Xia Imperial Tombs site 35 km west of Yinchuan. The remnants of nine Western Xia emperors' tombs and two hundred other tombs lie within a 50-km² area. Other famous sites in Ningxia include Helan Shan Rock Carving, Ming-era section of the Great Wall, the mysterious 108 dagobas, Shapotou and more.
The desert playground of Shapotou lies on the southern fringes of the Tengger Desert (Tenggerli) in Zhongwei. Making a camel trek out into the Tengger Desert allows you to experience the mystical landscape of the shitfting sand dunes. Rafting down the Yellow River is a unqiue travel experience too!

Ningxia is well know for its halal food with less Chinese food and western food. You must be psychologically prepared to go there knowing that the conditions for restaurants on the sightseeing areas are comparatively poorer than coast areas. The local taste is spicy and salty.
