We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

View Sunrise at Beidaihe
Viewing Sunrise at 4:36am June 03, 2009 ( a fine day with temperature 25 high and 18 low )
Before we came to Beidaihe, we knew that the Dove Nest Park in Beidaihe is one of the best nine sunrise viewing spots in China. Actually most of the beach area in Beidaihe is good for sunrise viewing. For the sunrise view, we set the morning call at 3:40am on June 03, 2009. After short washing, we went out of hotel and walking towards to the Dachaoping, a wetland north of the Dove Nest Park.

Sunrise Timetable in Beidaihe
We had well planed our sunrise activity. Below is the Sunrise Viewing Timetable we got from the official document:

Sunrise Time Apr. May Jun. Jul. Aug. Sep.
1st 5:40 5:02 4:36 4:50 5:00 5:30
11th 5:25 4:50 4:15 4:42 5:10 5:39
21st 5:15 4:42 4:02 4:36 5:19 5:50

The Sunrise lastes 10 minutes
After 25 minutes' walking, we reached the Chitushan Bridge. Below the bridge is the salty wetland called "Dachaoping" - a wetland with ebb and flow, day ebb and night flow, just north of the Dove Nest Park. Dachaoping is also a haven for bird watching! It is one of the most famous bird watching spots around the world.

We walked down from the bridge to the wetland below. We only had 10 minutes to find a good spot for the sunrise viewing on the spacious wetland, soft and muddy. The sky in the eat became pink orange red. We very much expect the sunrise since it was the first time for me to see the sunrsie in my life! It was beyond my words to depict the whole process of the sunrise of that day. We had to use the photos to record what we saw on the early morning of June 03, 2009.

The new sun is going to come out.

The new sun has appeared!

The new sun is half out.

The sun is out for most part.

The sun is almost totally out.

The new sun is totally out!

The new sun is going up with a nice reflection on the sea.

The new sun is going up higher resembling a burning torch!

The new sun is melting and a new day is in.
