Location: It lies in the north of Xinjiang, at the southwest food of Altai Mountain, and on the north edge of Junggar Basin.

History: Burjin got its name from Burjin river. From Xihan Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, Burjin had always been the nomadic land. Until in 1919, Altay attached Xinjiang province.
Climate: Burjin enjoys a dry and hot summer and a cold winter. The whole year is rainless and windy. There is great temperature difference in day and night.
Transportation: Burjin is the transportation center of Altay area, national highway 217 crossed the city. There are sleeper bus trip between Urumqi and Burjin.
