June 29, 2009 8:30 - 10:30
Jiadengyu - Rainbow Beach ( 150km )
Today we are going to leave Jiadengyu and say good-bye to Kanas area. I will come to Kanas Lake again, but in Autumn, not in June. The Kanas lake in Autumn will be much more beautiful!
After breakfast, we start on the road to Rainbow Beach, a multi-colour beach along the Ertix River ( Ertish River ), the only river in China that flows into the Arctic Ocean. The Rainbow Beach is located 25km northeast of Burjin City.
10:30-11:30 Tour in Rainbow Beach
Now the beach has been developed into a big beach park. We enter the elegantly decorated entrance gate amd approach the beach by the river. All the rocks glitter radiating many colours - yellow, orange, red and more. The multi-coloured beach, the green oasis and the Altay Mountains form a fairyland! People cannot help take a great number of photos.
11:30 - 12:30 Rainbow Beach - Burjin ( 25km)
People are happy with the one hour tour of the beautiful beach. And continue to drive ahead to Burjin City for lunch.
12:30 - 13:30 Buffer lunch at Shenhu Hotel at Burjin
This is our second time to enter Burjin on this study trip. Burjin is a clean city. The buffer lunch is arranged at one of the best hotels in Burjin Hotel - Shenmu Hotel.
Shenmu Hotel in Burjin is a very nice 4-star hotel.
13:30 - 18:00 Burjin - Ghost Town (230km )
After lunch, we again start our long march - 350km to Kelamayi - the oil city. We drive along the National Road No.217 on the west edge of the Junggar Basin. The view on both sides of the road is fantastic, Gobi, desert, green pastures, Yadan Landforms...
We don't go directly to Kelamayi. Instead we stop at the Devil City, 120km northeast of Kelamayi for a visit. On the way, you will see the huge oil field.
18:00 - 19:00 Vsit Ghost Town
The landscape in the so called "Devil City"( Ghost Town ) is a typical Yadan landform. It is really a devil city - cloudy sky, dusty air, arid land, sandy rocks of various forms.
Who dares to stay overnight in the devil city? Maybe the devil city area management staff can!
19:00 - 21:00 Ghost Town - Kelamayi ( 120km )
After touring the scaring "Devil City", we leave for the oil city of Kelamayi. Before we enter the city center, we visit the Heiyou Hill Park (Black Oil Hill Park), a place where the back oil bubbling out naturally for hundreds of years. Local government has built it into a park for tourists to visit and have a better understnding of the oil city of Kelamayi.
At last we get to our hotel in Kelamayi - Bo Da Yi Du Hotel, a very nice hotel.
After dinner, the local organizers warmly arrange a night tour of the Kelamayi River crossing the city center.
