Humen Travel Guide
Location:Humen Town, also known as Taiping, is a town within the borders of Dongguan City, on the eastern side of the Bocca Tigris on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta, in Guangdong Province of southern China.
History:
The history of Humen is linked to the First Opium War (1839-1842). It was at Humen that Lin Zexu supervised the destruction of large quantities of seized opium in 1839. Some major battles in the First Opium War were fought here and on the waters of the Bocca Tigris.
Transportation:
Humen is situated at the economy junction of Guangdong, Hongkong and Macau, so Humen owes an excellent transportation network in land or sea or air. Humen Port is the first class port in China. Guangzhou International Airport to the north, Huizhou Airport to the east, Bao’an airport and Hong Kong International Airport to the south, and Zhuhai Airport and Macau Airport to the west, are very close to Humen Town.

Humen is a tourist town, there are a lot of places for you to choose to sleep. The most luxury hotels are Longquan International Hotel, Feitai Garden Hotel and Fumin International Hotel.

Weather:
Humen belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, the temperature is moderate all the year round. It is very hot and rainy in summer, and clod with little rain in winter.
The best time to visit Humen is in spring and autumn, when is cool and with the most comfortable temperature within the year.

Humen Bridge
The Humen Bridge was completed in 1997 at the entrance to the Pearl River, where it empties into the sea in Guangdong Province, China, which is a very typhoon-prone area.
The bridge is a long highway bridge, with a total length of 4,588m consisting of a single-span suspension bridge, with a main span of 888m over the main navigation channel and a PC continuous rigid frame bridge, with a main span of 270m over the sub-navigation channel.
The anchorages were constructed on the shore, the tower foundations were constructed off-shore using steel piles. The reinforced concrete towers rise to 154m above sea level and the main cable is 687.2mm in diameter consisting of 13,970 5.2mm diameter wires, constructed by the PPWS (prefabricated parallel wire strands) method using strands manufactured at the site.
The main span suspended steel box girders were constructed with a stream-lined shape.
Shajiao Fort
Shajiao Fort, which is the main battlefield of Opium War, was built in the fifth year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (1800).
Shajiao Fort is located in Fort Shajiao Hill, 10 kilometers southbound City. The Shajiao Fort is 139 meters long, 11-hole shot, and with the size of formolongi 11. The open spots include tobacco Shajiao Ferry, coastal units, credit artillery, military justice section graves, and so on.
Shajiao Fort became a national key cultural preservation center in 1982.
