October 16, 2005Today is the last full day on our study tour of the Southern Xinjiang. Early in the morning we drive 120km south to Auyitagh Forest Park (the Glacier Park ) which is under the jurisdiction of Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture.
Auyitagh Forest Park is located in Aoyitag Town, Aketao County Pamirs. It is 2300-5300 meters above sea level. "Auyitagh" in Turkic means "billabongs in the mountains". The park is situated in the narrow and long valley of over 10 km. Surrounded by its three sides, the park is a perfect spot to see glaciers, green pastures, high mountains, wild forests, graze, nomadic life. It is a combination of natural landscape, human civilzation, history and eco-sightseeing.
